A number of matters of importance were discussed at the AGM, one being an amendment to our club's constitution. The change was to do with the nomination and acceptance of Honorary Members. The wording of the existing clause has been changed to read as follows:

"5.6. Honorary membership may be awarded at the discretion of the committee to a person who sponsors the club, and/or who attains a special or extraordinary achievement, and/or in recognition for excellence in a sporting achievement. Such Honorary membership shall be for the duration of one year. A person may be awarded such membership more than once provided the condition(s) are met again. Any member in good standing may recommend a recipient for Honorary Membership by way of a written motivation to the committee."

The committee are really excited about this change, as it means that Highway members can now nominate a fellow Club member or other involved person (e.g. a sponsor) for Honorary Membership. If you would like to nominate someone for Honorary Membership, please write a short motivation and send it to any of the committee members for consideration. This change does not affect the clause in our constitution relating to Honorary Life Members. We currently have 3 Honorary Life Members. They are Mavis Hutchinson, Franki Whiteford and Brian Schwulst.

Incentives and Annual Awards: Incentives have been increased and will be awarded at the annual prize-giving to be held in February. I urge you all to get your quarterly results sheets in so that we can award prizes, incentives and trophies.

Club Promotion has been a number 1 priority for the committee. Club details appear on a regular basis in the Highway Mail, on a number of internet sites/links, and please see our entry on the Runners World site under 'Run-Safe'. Our Highway website has had a facelift and is looking really great. Our members will be able to have their own blogs on the website – thank you to The Designer Boys
